Role: We are seeking an experienced and innovative Marketing Associate to support the organisation’s media and marketing activities.  This is a unique opportunity for a communications enthusiast with a deep interest in African affairs and trade and investment trends. The ideal candidate will have strong media relations alignment, excitement to crafting impactful marketing campaigns, and the ability to support high-profile relationships across the public and private sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing

  • Member communications – creation of daily brief, weekly update, monthly newsletters and bespoke mailers

  • Communicate events to maximise our presence and impact

  • Digital Marketing: Design and execute marketing campaigns to extend our reach.

  • Prepare marketing plans and targeted campaigns for events and projects.

  • Drive social media content creation.

  • Promote in-person and virtual engagements, with content based on our network.

  • Website management and review: updating the Invest Africa website with relevant information

  • Ensure the communications system and data is updated regularly and is clean.

Media Relations

  • Build and nurture relationships with key journalists, editors, and media outlets across print, digital, and broadcast channels, particularly those focused on African trade, investment, and development.

  • Serve as the primary media contact for Invest Africa, managing press enquiries and securing media coverage for events, initiatives, and thought leadership.

  • Draft and distribute press releases, op-eds, and statements to ensure consistent and impactful media messaging.

  • Monitor media coverage and produce comprehensive reports for internal stakeholders, identifying opportunities for further engagement.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Educated to degree level.

  • Experience in marketing and communications.

  • Knowledge of African affairs, trade, and investment trends.

  • Experience in media relations.

  • Strong writing and editing skills.

  • Creativity with ability to develop and execute successful marketing campaigns.

  • Familiarity with CRM systems and marketing tools.

  • Proficiency in Adobe programmes, including Acrobat and Indesign
