Angela Nalikka, Manager, National and Regional Power Systems, African Development Bank (AfDB)

Angela Nalikka is currently Manager National and Regional Power Systems in the African Development Bank (AfDB) based in Abidjan. Her work involves building sustainable utilities, power sector reform, developing power markets, regional projects, project development and advising Governments on PPPs.

With 25 years’ experience in structuring and arranging finance across diverse infrastructure projects in Africa, Angela has significant transaction experience in project development, origination, structuring, and portfolio management of power sector transactions in Africa.

Previously, she managed the Infrastructure Finance and PPPs at the AfDB where she arranged financing with investment sizes between US$ 50 million and US$ 1 billion. For over 15 years, her work involved identifying infrastructure projects, appraising, structuring and negotiating investment opportunities across a wide range of infrastructure sectors including power, ICT, railways, roads, water and oil & gas.

Prior, Angela worked as a Utility Planning Engineer and was involved in power sector reform that led to unbundling into three business lines (transmission, distribution and generation) in her native Uganda.

Angela has been at the frontline of efforts to develop the African power and infrastructure sectors after having worked in a utility, been part of a power sector restructuring, worked as a project finance expert and now offering advisory services to Governments.

Angela has an Electrical Engineering from Makerere University and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management.
