Raphael Baiden, Director, Turner & Townsend

Raphael’s role as the mining and metals lead for South Africa includes understanding the project delivery challenges faced by Turner & Townsend’s mining clients and helping his team develop realistic and sustainable solutions for such challenges. Their approach is underpinned by an ability to provide a solutions, which often draw from global experience, giving them the edge ahead of competitors and considering the issues associated with diversity and inclusion.

Raphael’s experience comes from supporting clients across Africa and the Americas, and providing advice across a number of large and complex mining and processing projects. This has not limited him to any particular type of mining methodology, approach or commodity. Raphael has held a number of key roles within the Turner & Townsend Africa mining and metals team, managing teams across various mining projects in South Africa as both a senior/lead quantity surveyor and as an associate director. He also had the privilege of serving on the Chairman’s Group as the Africa representative and also on the Turner & Townsend Global leadership programme.
