DRC in Focus – Geopolitics, Political Economy, and the Evolving Investment Landscape

In 2025, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) moved firmly into the global spotlight, both for its central role in the supply of critical minerals essential to the energy transition and for renewed geopolitical engagement, including U.S.-backed efforts to resolve a decades-long conflict in the country’s east. These dynamics have drawn a surge of international interest to Kinshasa—from mining and infrastructure to broader economic opportunities. Despite the headlines, the DRC remains a complex and often misunderstood investment environment, where the gap between international narratives and on-the-ground realities is significant and constantly evolving.

Invest Africa invites investors, corporates, financial institutions, and other key stakeholders to join a focused deep-dive webinar examining the political economy of the DRC, recent geopolitical developments, and what they mean in practice for capital deployment and commercial engagement.

Featuring Joshua Walker, Program Director of the Congo Research Group at New York University, Paul Hinks, CEO of Symbion Power and Chairman of Invest Africa in the US, and Michel Losembe, Managing Director of Tshinu Consulting, the panel will provide practical, investor-relevant insights into risk, opportunity, and execution across sectors such as mining, energy, and infrastructure—highlighting what matters most for establishing business, operating successfully, and driving sustainable impact in the DRC. This session will also preview Invest Africa’s planned 2026 DRC engagement, including investor-focused dialogues and a prospective investor mission.
