Founding Director & President | Mkango Resources

Alexander Lemon is a founding Director and President of AIM/TSXV listed Mkango Resources and a Director of Maginito Limited which are developing new sustainable sources of NdPr oxide, recycled NdFeB and other rare earths products from Malawi, UK, Germany, Poland and the USA.

Also a Non Executive Director of South Africa’s leading Environmental Consultancy Kongiwe. He has over 30 years’ experience in mineral exploration, business development, international government relations and project management with a significant global network in the Industry. Previously having worked as a Managing Director of a gold mining company that owned and operated a producing gold mine in Central Asia and has been involved in the exploration and evaluation of a variety of projects throughout Africa, Central Asia and Europe.

Whilst President of Mkango, Mkango Resources has advanced the Songwe Hill rare earths project in Malawi from an early exploration stage to a definitive feasibility study, received approval of the Environmental, Social and Health Impact Assessment, the Songwe Mining Development Agreement and now spear heading development in Malawi advancing the Songwe Rare Earth project through a FEED and the future construction of the mine, processing and hydrometallurgical plants to produce a value add , high value export product in Malawi.

Mkango is also advancing the Pulawy rare-earth separation project in Poland through the scoping, prefeasibility and low bankable feasibility study stages, also established Maginito which acquired 100% of the Magnet Recycling business HyProMag in 2023. Also listing Mkango Rare Earths Limited on Nasdaq in the USA.

He holds an MSc DIC in Mineral Exploration from the  Royal School of Mines, Imperial College, London and a BSc in Geological Sciences from Oxford Brookes University. He is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London, Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a Member of the Southern African Institute of Mining &; Metallurgy.
