H.E. Sabah Zita Benson
High Commissioner of the Republic of Ghana to the United Kingdom and Ireland
Her Excellency Sabah Zita Benson is a seasoned diplomat, lawyer, and public servant with over two decades of leadership in governance, law, and international relations. She has held several key ministerial roles, including Minister for Information—where she modernized Ghana’s communication systems—and Minister for Tourism, where she spearheaded major policy reforms and oversaw the construction of the Accra Visitors Information Centre.
She later served as Ghana’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, with concurrent accreditation to Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and North Macedonia, advancing trade and diplomatic relations across Central and Eastern Europe. In 2025, she made history as Ghana’s first female High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland.
H.E. Benson holds degrees in English and Law from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, an LLB and an LL.M. in Oil and Gas Law from the University of Ghana, and is a Barrister of the Ghana Bar.
She is widely recognized as a trailblazer for women in leadership, being the youngest female Minister and youngest Ambassador ever appointed in Ghana, and now the country’s first female High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland.
Married to pharmacist Bobby Benson, with whom she has three children, H.E. Benson is committed to mentorship, family, and the empowerment of emerging leaders—particularly women.
